WELCOME TO AMERICAN CORNER KRAGUJEVAC
 American Corner is opened in Kragujevac on May 6, 2005. This project is the result of cooperation between the Public Library “Vuk Karadzic” in Kragujevac and the Public Affairs Office of the US Embassy in Belgrade.
The Corners are small, American-style libraries created to increase mutual understanding between Serbia & Montenegro and the United States by making available information about America in a variety of formats. We offer books, videos, CD-ROMs, Internet Access, various programs and professional bilingual librarians trained to help you find the desired information about the United States.

MEMBERSHIP
It’s free and unlimited! All you need is an ID size photo and ID or a passport.
INTERNET ACCESS
For our members Internet is free. You can use it three hours a month.
CONVERSATION PRACTICE
Come and meet Meaghan O’Connor and Daniel Ginsberg, visitors from Boston, USA. You can talk to them on various topics you may find interesting and IMPROVE YOUR ENGLISH. Every Monday at 17:00.
CULTURAL PRESENTATION
Learn more about typical American issues through lectures, discussions, movies and literature. Every other Wednesday at 17:00.
STORYTIME FOR CHILDREN
Stories are read by Meaghan O’Connor who worked with children in the USA. Bring your children to enjoy classical American stories. Every other Wednesday at 17:00.
MOVIES
Documentary film projections- every Thursday at 17:00.
Feature film projections- every Friday at 17:00.
BOOKS
We have 1200 books. In our Corner you can find reference books about the US Law, Economics, Presidency, Art, Business, Politics, Journalism, Film, Music, Sports etc. We also have dictionaries of every kind, Encyclopedia Americana, College handbooks, Practice tests as well as info on GRE, GMAT, LSAT and TOEFL for those who want to study in the USA.
The books that you can borrow include The Library of America editions featuring all the important American writings and authors, novels, bestsellers, essays and poetry. There’s also a great collection of books for children and PC software.
Feel free to suggest the titles and authors of books you would like to see on our shelves. We’ll try to get them for you!
MAGAZINES & NEWSPAPERS
In the American Corner you can find a great number of magazines such as National Geographic, Time, Vogue, Reader’s Digest, Business Week, House and Gardening,
Smithsonian, PC World, Sports Illustrated and many more. We also subscribe to The International Herald Tribune, a daily newspapers (only a day late).
ELECTRONIC OUTREACH SERVICE
Sign-up for any of IRC (Information Resource Center) mailing lists- available by subject (Int’l politics, Education, Democracy, Human rights, etc.). More info – AC information desk.
